3D sculpting
for this module we will be looking at different ways to sculpt in z brush. we would have to sculpt the human anatomy. I first started of with getting the base mesh
thie first thing I did was up the subdivision level to give a smoother look
Insted of drawing on the model I tired to block out the body. I used the clay build up tool while using reference and the smooth tool.
as I was buliding it up I used the dam standard tool to add devinition in the chest, hits and packs and stuill bulding it up using the clay build brush
I did the same when I started the back just built it up and smoothed it.
I then started working at the lower body. looking at reference I built up the hip section to give the body a curve.. with the packs I used the move tool to move the top lower down to give the rib bone some more room for definition. I then added definition around then using the dam standard the create the muscles next to the middle pack. I then built up the rib area as there was nothing there from my b lockout, i then smoothed the lower pack to fade away near the crouch.
with the pecks I changed the shape of them first of all due to the fact that they were going down instead of up I then used the lazy mouse tool, what this does is create a line to show definition. I used it around the pecks to make them bulk out more. with the collar bone I moved it in more to the centre and used the lazy mouse tool to define it. i then went in with the dam standard tool to ass some detail onto the pecks and around them.
with the rib section i made it so it curves round the body. I built it up with the clay build up tool. I then used the lazy mouse tool to define the rib going round. under the arm I loved it in a little using the move tool to give the back a cobra look when i start on it. I then went in gently ans used clay built up and smoothed it to show muscle and rib lines.
With the lower side I used the lazy mouse too to create the line that leads to the groin. i then built up above it to give the body more shape. I then smoothed it out towards the lower packtoral.
The first this i did with the lower back was build up the buttox so I can see were i have to put definition in the lower back. I then brought the sides out a bit more and moved them forward using the movie tool. with the clay build up tool i put it on low intensity and sculpted in the lower muscles
as my mesh looked bulky I started looking at references of muscular men. What i saw was that they had a cobra shaped back. i first brought in the sides under the arm pit. using the move tool i moved the middle blackout a bit. I then went in on a low instensity clay build up and started bulding yp the shoudler blades. i then smoothed everything out and a low intensity. i used the lazy mouse tool to add a spine line aswell.
with the upper back there's allot of muscles. I first started building up the middle muscles and smoothed them around the shoulder blades. with the shoulder blades I added definition by building up in two diff rent places to show muscles built on to them. I shaped out the should a swell to help.
with the shoulders I had to build the deltiod up a few times using the clay build up seeing as I wanted them to look muscular. with the smooth tool i tried to smooth tem round to the arm to stop at a point instead of them just being round. with lazy mouse I added a line to were the chest is to show were they start.
Looking at reference I first started building up the triceps muscles. looking at the lateral heads i first built up and then smoothed to make it look rounded as mucle does. next ot it i built up the back a little smaller and curved it round. i then tried to make it traingualar to go round the elbow. using the move tool i moved out the elbow and moved the other mucles upwards.
with thebicept I had to use the clay build up quaite alot. i first clay builded it up and used to move to to elongate it to go down to the joint i then added definition by goign in with lazymouse very lightly
with the top part of the legs I frist went a put it into a lower sub division, this heplls with making the leg rounder and smoother like the top leg is
I then went back into a higer subdivision and smoother around some more. i also made the tp of the knees come out a little.
I then started to bring out the knee more with the clay build up tool and smotther it to make it round.
using referance I used the lazy mouse tool with the dam standard tool to start sculpting out the leg muscle.
I then started with the side. it seemed a bit flat so i sub divide and used the move tool to move out the top muscle and make it rounder.
for the calf's I first started building up with clay build up in a lower sub division. i then smoothed them out and moved the inner side outwards and down
I then went into puttign detail in. I used lazy mouse and dam standard tool to curve oout the calf mausle and the back of the knees
I then started on the hands. I first uped the sub division and started to shape the hand.
I first looked at the bumps in the hand and used the clay build up tool and went round building it up
upping the subdivision some more I use the clay build up and slowly went round bumping out the fingers. using my own hand as reference I can see its broke up into 3 bumps.
i then went in with the dam standard tool and started outlining the hand using my hand as referance.
for the bones that are visible with finger movement I went down to a lover sub division. i started pulling out were they would be.
when put back into a higher sub division i smoothed them out. I didn't want to make them too visible seeing as there not.
I then started on the head. i started out and low subdivision and using the move tool and referance I stated shaping the head
I stated with the lps. i fist used the clay build up tool to bring them out. i then kept switching beteween hight sub and low to move the lips out and smooth them
I then went in at a low sub division and started budling up definition around the jaw. cheekcs, nose and eyebow.
With the nose I first used the dam standard tool and defined the nostrils. i then went into a lower sub division and moved the middle part of the nose out. the front part of the nose was built up wit the caly build up tool and smoothed around
wit he front on the nose I moved in the top part to make it look less stright. i then shaped the nostrils some more
with the eyes I increased the brow thickness and moved it out. I then used dam standard to outline the eye and create bags under them
by looking at referance I started bulding up were catilige was in the ear.
I then smootherd it out and used the dam standard tool to create cartilige and definition
by insertign the hands I used the mask tool to get rid of the ones on the base mesh. I then went into the subtool master and merged the hands together. i had to re sculpt the wrist and part of the arm due to the errors coming out. i tried everything but couldn't get rid of the seems. I kept trying but nothing seemsed to make them dissapear and i had run out of time.
overall i really enjoyed the module. i really like scupting and will be practising over the holidays creatingthings.
